1. Scream (1996)

Wes Craven, a true master of horror, showcased his superiority in the slasher genre by directing Scream. A homage to classic horror films, Scream is notable for featuring well established actors including Drew Barrymore and Courtney Cox of Friend’s fame. The young and beautiful Sidney Prescott (Neve Campbell) attempts to escape “Ghostface”, a masked killer intent on killing all her friends, until she is the final girl. Sidney can seriously kick some killer butt! A must see for any horror fan.

2. I Know What You Did Last Summer (1997)

A film adaptation of a novel by Lois Duncan, four teenagers (played by Freddie Prinze Jr, Jennifer Love Hewitt, Ryan Phillippe and Sarah Michelle Gellar) accidentally kill a man on a dark road after drunken Fourth of July celebrations. Fearing jail, they make a pact and throw the dead body in the sea. One year later, someone who was supposed to be dead starts stalking them, looking for bloody revenge. With good acting and creepy atmosphere, I Know What You Did Last Summer is a movie that will haunt all your secrets.

3. The Conjuring (2013)

Modern horror at its very best! The Conjuring is based on the true stories of paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren, most famously associated with The Amityville Horror. Inspired spin-offs from the antagonists in the films, Annabelle and The Nun.

4. House on Haunted Hill (1999)

Would you be game enough to stay an entire night in a haunted house for a million dollars? A group of strangers are offered a million dollars each to survive the night in an old mansion revealed to be an abandoned mental asylum where a massacre happened some decades ago. As the night goes on, the blood starts to run, and the money vanishes from the group’s minds. Now, all they want is to see the dawn and escape alive.

5. Unfriended (2014)

With plenty of suspense and social media, Unfriended is one of the best horror flicks to come out in recent years. A group of friends are participating in a group Skype call one night discussing the recent death of one of their classmates. Suddenly, they notice an uninvited person is also listening in on their call. One by one, the group get killed off. Best watched on your laptop!
