AFL Trades 2013-2014

With the end of the season, and a win in the Grand Final by the Hawthorn team just a week or two ago, the talk around the town inevitably moves to trades. This time of year is super exciting for many people, with the chance of mixing trades, mystery, money and AFL together a potent mix. AFL trades are always exciting – but who will move?

Adelaide

Adelaide have gained Eddie Betts from Carlton for four years (Eddie is 26 years of age).

Ricky Henderson appears to be moving to Collingwood for a second rate pick (to replace Heath Shaw).

Brisbane

Brisbane is facing a mass exodus of players, with about seven looking to leave. Elliot Yeo looks like moving to the West Coast Eagles on a three year deal. Billy Longer appears to be moving to Hawthorn. Sam Docherty is probably going to the Blues.

Carlton

Eddie Betts is out of Princes Park and heading over to the Adelaide Crows on a four year deal (reportedly).

The rumours around Dale Thomas moving to Carlton have continued to gather momentum and it seems highly likely that he will move from the Pies to Carlton over the coming days. Sam Docherty from the Brisbane Lions should move to the Blues.

Collingwood

The Pies delisted Darren Jolly, Alan Didak, Jordan Russell and Andrew Krakouer. Heath Shaw and Dale Thomas also look likely to move clubs.

Collingwood are allegedly in the hunt for GWS Giant Taylor Adams, and Adelaide’s Ricky Henderson. Also looking at Swan Jesse White.

Essendon

It appears as though Essendon will lose Stewart Crameri to the Western Bulldogs for a large offer. Scott Gumbleton has also been linked to the Bulldogs and the Dockers. David Myers is reportedly being wooed by the Saints.

Essendon has reportedly been linked to Nick Dal Santo and Taylor Adams.

Fremantle

Are reportedly interested in Scott Gumbleton (Essendon), Xavier Ellis (Hawthorn) and have picked up Colin Sylvia from the Demons.

Geelong

Paul Chapman, Josh Hunt and James Podsiadly are delisted, with all looking at playing at another club next season.

Geelong are reportedly interested in signing Taylor Adams from GWS.

Gold Coast

Reportedly interested in Heath Shaw, but otherwise not active.

AFL Trades 2013-2014

Greater Western Sydney

Shane Mumford has signed with the Giants from cross-town rivals, the Swans. Looks set to lose Taylor Adams to a Victorian club.

Hawthorn

Obviously the big out at Hawthorn is Buddy Franklin. Off to Sydney for a nine year deal worth $10m. Nice if you can get it. Max Bailey, Michael Osboirne and Brent Guerra have retired, with Shane Savage looking to leave the club for better opportunities elsewehere. Xavier Ellis may get picked up by another club as well.

Hawthorn are looking at recruiting Billy Longer ( a ruckman) from Brisbane – who was a high draft pick several years ago. They are also looking at Carlton’s ruckman, Shaun Hampson.

Melbourne

Colin Sylvia has moved to the Dockers on a three year deal. Melbourne shouldn’t worry too much about that. And they’ve resigned Jack Watts.

Melbourne has apparently claimed that their number 2 draft pick is on the table for someone very good. Paul Roos is a serious unit, so one never knows what will happen with the Dees. The Demons are apparently keen on securing Luke Shuey from the West Coast Eagles (a solid midfielder).

North Melbourne

Looks set to trade Delaney to the Saints, and may pick up Nick Dal Santo in return.

Port Adelaide

Port Adelaide have gained Matt White from Richmond. White is a hard running midfielder who wanted more opportunity.

Richmond

Richmond have lost Matt White to Port Adelaide for a three year deal. Luke McGuane reportedly wants to move to the Brisbane Lions and reconnect with coach Justin Leppitsch.

St Kilda

Nick Dal Santo looks like moving to either Essendon or North Melbourne.

Allegedly chasing Essendon’s David Myers.

Sydney

Shane Mumford leaves the Swans for the Giants. Jesse White will leave the club as well – either Collingwood, Carlton or Fremantle. Pressure mounting with the Swans’ salary cap. Jude Bolton, Mitch Morton and Marty Mattner all retired.

Obviously the coup of the trade period is Buddy Franklin from Hawthorn to Sydney. For nine years. Wow.

West Coast

West Coast have changed coach from John Worsfold to Adam Simpson. the Eagles have reportedly made a move for Elliot Yeo from the Brisbane Lions.

Melbourne have made a play for Luke Shuey.

Western Bulldogs

Offered a big deal to Stewart Crameri allegedly (Essendon) and also looking at Jesse White, and Scott Gumbleton.
