Will Caris bring home the Miss Universe Crown for Australia?

Australia has won Miss Universe twice in its 65 year history. The first was Kerry Anne Wells (from Perth, WA) in 1972 and the most recent was Jennifer Hawkins (from Holmesville, NSW) in 2004. Hawkins is now the founder of two successful brands Cozi by Jennifer Hawkins swimwear and JBronze tanning line, as well as the current host of Australia’s Next Top Model. Hawkins is also the face of Australian department store Myer, Lovable Intimates, Mount Franklin Lightly Sparkling, Range Rover and presenter for travel show, The Great Outdoors.

Following in Hawkins steps and taking home the international crown at the finale will be the ultimate success story for Tiivel.

This year’s Miss Universe is held in the Mall of Asia Arena, Manila, Phillippines and will be hosted by Emmy award winning American TV presenter Steve Harvey and feature role model and body activist Ashley Graham. Flo Rida and Boyz II Men will provide the music entertainment.

Eighty six countries will be competing in the event. The women will showcase their talent in Swimwear, Evening Gown, Final Question and Final Look.

Speaking to Missosology.org, Caris said: “I personally believe as a contestant of Miss Universe that pageants are actually very empowering to women. The emphasis is not on superficial beauty but encapsulates all that a woman can be. Elegance, personality, professionalism and compassion. The pageant has allowed me to develop my skills, confidence and the platform to help others and give back to the community. To me it has been nothing but an uplifting, inspiring and empowering experience.”
