With a focus on deregulation on Australian universities, Christopher Pyne made a speech in the United Kingdom earlier this week.
Under the Kemp-Norton review released several weeks ago, federal funding for TAFEs, private universities and other higher education providers was a recommendation.
While this would seemingly get a loud rebuke from Vice Chancellors across the country, this was not the case with Melbourne University, La Trobe University and the University of New South Wales. These three VCs supports the planned changes.
Unsurprisingly the private education and TAFE sector have welcomed the news.
Focusing on the successful US college system, Mr Pyne wants more competition and greater choice for students and tertiary educators.
