AFL Elimination Final Prediction 2013

AFL Elimination Final Prediction 2013

Having an AFL Elimination Final Prediction 2013 is not easy. With eight top quality sides, it will be a week in which upsets may prevail. For what it’s worth, we’ve listed our tips.

Hawthorn vs Sydney

These two sides played last week in Sydney at ANZ Stadium. The Hawks got over the line after a tough three quarters of football. Unfortunately, Buddy got suspended for a head-high bump on Malceski, so that will rule him out for this week. Meanwhile, the Swans welcome back big Kurt Tippett. The Swans weren’t expected to win last week, but pushed the best side in the competition to the limit. Don’t be surprised if either side wins this week, but we have a funny feeling the Swans will get the job done this week. Sydney by 2 points.

Geelong vs Fremantle

The Cats and Dockers have been in red hot form this season, and this should be a fantastic contest. Despite the AFL’s surprising late move to play the game at Simonds Stadium, this is still not a lock for the Cats. Many of the football public should be ashamed that the AFL has -at the last minute- made a switch to the venue, thereby reducing the number of attendees by about 17,000. The AFL should be trying to encourage as many people to attend the match as possible.

The Dockers will have Pavlich and Sandilands and will have plenty of firepower. Geelong has recently welcomed back Paul Chapman, and looks to be peaking just in time for September. As this is being played in Geelong and not Etihad Stadium, then the Cats should get the win. Geelong by 12 points.

Collingwood vs Port Adelaide

Last time these two sides played, the Power won by 35 points (the same number as the late John McCarthy wore on his shirt). That game was played in Adelaide. Since then, the Pies have really focused and beaten some quality sides – including the Swans in Sydney. Port have ha some good wins throughout the year, and well deserve to make the finals. But their form is starting to drop. With a young team, they were unable to beat a pretty average Carlton outfit at home last week. Form suggests the Pies should get over the line. Collingwood by 18 points.

Richmond vs Carlton

Carlton recently defeated the Tigers, and ruined their chances for a top four spot. Much to the surprise of many of the football public! Carlton slipped into the finals due to a very tight win against the Power in Adelaide last week, but their form is average. Carlton did of course lose to the Bombers the week before! Richmond is up and about, and with recent comments from Michael Voss suggesting they could go far into the finals, the Tigers will be buoyed. Should be a great game with a large crowd on the Sunday afternoon. Richmond by 12 points.
