Romantics Anonymous

Romantics Anonymous tells the story of Angélique (Isabelle Carré), an extraordinary French chocolate maker who suffers from social anxiety.

Rather than owning up to the fame of her chocolates, Angelique takes refuge under the alias of a hermit hiding in the forest that no one can find. When Angelique seeks work with a struggling chocolate factory, she finds a connection with Jean-René (Benoît Poelvoorde) who also suffers from a heightened sense of nerves. Through this relationship Angelique begins to become stronger. She questions whether she should reveal herself as the hermit, or continue to stand behind the myth.

The movie is filled with comedic tension, romance and chocolate! However at times I found that it relied more on it quirkiness than its storyline, which left some areas of the film unexplained and a little unbelievable. It is however a very easy watch; being a light hearted comedy it leaves you feeling happy and content (so long as you don’t question it). I would definitely recommend this film if you want to relax and have a few laughs.
